    Hi All –
I am just starting to look at what is available for families for the upcoming holiday season. Does anyone what agencies or how to get some help with Thanksgiving dinner and gifts for my children? It would be great if we could start a list maybe of groups or people and where they are. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Here are a few resources I have found in Clackamas County:

St. Vincent De Paul – is giving out gift cards to help with turkey purchase according to Oregon Food Bank

Drop in Pantry: Tuesday and Friday 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm
    Phone:(503) 235-8431 (press option “1”)

Sandy Community Action Center – giving out turkeys and boxes for Thanksgiving dinner https://sandyactioncenter.com/ Food Pantry
    503.668.4746

Coltan Aid Network – You will have to fill out an application for these folks. Colton Aid Network holiday basket forms are available at the Colton Fire Station and ColtonTel. Due date for the Thanksgiving basket requests is November 11, 2016.
Colton Aid Network serves families in the Colton School District boundaries.

Eugene and Lane County Salvation Army assistance programs.
While financial assistance is limited in Eugene Oregon, the Salvation Army will do its best to meet any needs and provide other support as well. Most of the resources administered are part of the Family Services program. Some of what may be available is below.

The first category may be what is considered more basic needs. This can include emergency food boxes, free or low cost school supplies, coats, and Christmas toys for kids during the holidays. The objective of the Salvation Army and their Family Service’s is to reach out and meet people at their point of need. This can give them hope for both today and tomorrow.

The free Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets and meals are distributed to the community. This will take place very close to the holiday itself. Children and their families can look into Christmas Toy Assistance from resources such as Angel Tree or Adopt a Family. If those two options do not work, then another is the free Holiday Food Boxes, which will have the food and grocery items that are most associated with the holidays. As funding allows, and if you meet qualifications, then other immediate needs may be fulfilled by the organization. Call (503) 585-6688. Note that the Christmas programs do not usually open up until November.

As indicated, financial aid is very limited. When possible though, individuals may be able to receive money for utilities, rent, and/or security deposits. Some medical needs, such as prescriptions, may be met as well.

Water and more general utility bill assistance may be offered by the Salvation Army in partnership with the city of Eugene. Every month, residents from the community struggle to pay their energy bills. Thousands of people in Lane County Oregon face a disconnection of their water or power every year. The Salvation Army and its partners will do their best to pay out temporary energy and water assistance. The exact amount and terms will vary by center.

This link was sent to me from a Peace Health Community partner. It seems like Walmart and Ibotta have teamed up to offer a free Thanksgiving meal.

The Walmart-exclusive items included in the Free Thanksgiving Dinner program are:

Campbell’s condensed cream of mushroom soup (10.5-ounce can)
    2-liter bottle of Coke
All varieties of Butterball 3-pound turkey roast or $9.98 cash back on all Butterball whole turkeys
McCormick turkey gravy seasoning packet (0.87-ounce package)
    French’s crispy onions (2.8-ounce package)
Idahoan instant mashed potatoes (8-ounce package)
    Great Value stuffing (6-ounce package)
Great Value cranberry sauce (14-ounce can)
Great Value frozen green beans (12-ounce bag)

In order to get the dinner items for free, download the Ibotta app or web browser extension, click on the Free Thanksgiving Dinner offer and shop for your items at any Walmart or at Walmart.com.

Once purchased, scan your receipt into the Ibotta or link your Walmart Grocery account to verify the purchases, and you’ll earn cashback for the entire purchase (approx. $20.27).

“Walmart is proud to team up with Ibotta this Thanksgiving to put meals on the tables of thousands of families across the U.S. at a time when they may need it most,” said Sarah Henry, Walmart Sr. Director, Content & Influencer Marketing.
