How to clear storage on mac and make it more efficient. The first thing to do is to get rid of the big files that are in your Downloads and Desktop folders. You will instantly get more space if you also empty the Trash. Then, click on the Apple menu, choose About This Mac, then Storage and Manage, and turn on the options Optimize Storage and Reduce Clutter. Save space on your Mac by uninstalling the apps you don’t use, i. e., move them to Trash. The browser cache can be cleared, and the backups of the old versions of the iPhone can be removed from Finder. Get rid of duplicate photos, videos, and screenshots that aren’t useful anymore. Besides, if it is not necessary to have all the files readily available on your Mac, they can be moved to iCloud or an external drive. Once the cleaning up is done, doing a restart of your Mac will help the storage get refreshed, and overall system speed get increased.
