    I just got the ASUS VivoBook 17X (X1703) and I’m having some annoying issues. The battery drains really fast even when the laptop is idle, the fan gets loud and the device heats up quickly under light load, and the touchscreen is sometimes unresponsive. Not sure if it’s a settings issue or defective unit. Anyone else experiencing this?

    Had the same battery drain, heating and touchscreen issues with my VivoBook 17X. Update the BIOS and all drivers first, then adjust power settings to Balanced mode and recalibrate the battery. For the touchscreen, disable/re-enable the driver in Device Manager.

    Similar problems reported by quite a few users with this model. Updating the BIOS, chipset drivers, and graphics drivers usually helps a lot. Also cleaning up startup programs and switching to Balanced power mode makes a noticeable difference in battery life and heat. Worth trying those first before considering a return.
