What are the risks?
The incidence of side effects with sedation are very rare and include unintended loss of consciousness, drowsiness, dizziness, shivering (4%), headaches (4%), and post sedation nausea & vomiting (0.7%)If you become too drowsy, the effects will be reversed by the use of another medication. You may experience a reduction in the amount of oxygen in your bloodstream, due to reduced breathing during sedation. Your breathing level will be monitored throughout the procedure. You should inform the clinician about your medical history, including any medication you are taking and if you had any problems with having either general anaesthetic or sedation
