Every child deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported. Children’s Mental Health Action (Acceptance) Day is a reminder that mental health is part of overall health, and that families, caregivers, and communities all play a role in creating spaces where young people can thrive.
At Oregon Family Support Network, this day is more than a moment. It is a movement rooted in connection, understanding, and action.
What Action (Acceptance) Means
Action (acceptance) goes beyond awareness. It is about creating environments where children and youth experiencing emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges are met with compassion and respect. It is about listening without judgment, offering support without conditions, and recognizing the strength in every family’s story.
Action also means ensuring families have access to resources, peer support, and opportunities to build community. When families feel supported, children feel it too.
Join Us in Community
This year, we are bringing that spirit of action (acceptance) to two community celebrations:
Salem: Joy in the Journey
May 9 | 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Salem’s Riverfront Carousel
Eugene: Celebrate the Sunshine
May 16 | 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Skinner Butte Park
Each event is designed to be welcoming, family-friendly, and grounded in connection. Families can explore activities, enjoy time outdoors, and connect with others who understand their experiences.
In Salem, we will be offering FREE carousel rides along with crafts, yard games, and opportunities to connect.
In Eugene, we are especially excited to host a resource fair featuring 14 community partners, offering families direct access to local supports, services, and opportunities. These partnerships help extend the reach of care and ensure families know they are not navigating challenges alone.
Why It Matters
For many families, the journey through mental and behavioral health systems can feel overwhelming. Moments of connection, like these events, create space for relief, understanding, and hope.
They remind families:
- You are not alone
- Your voice matters
- Support is available
They also remind communities that when we show up for families, we strengthen the systems meant to serve them.
Be Part of the Movement
Whether you attend an event, share resources, or simply take a moment to listen to a young person in your life, you are contributing to a culture of action (acceptance).
Children’s Mental Health Action (Acceptance) Day is about celebrating resilience, building connections, and continuing the work of creating a more supportive and understanding world for all families.
We invite you to join us, bring a friend, and be part of the journey.
